Personality Description (two paragraphs or more):
Asher is a charming little guy when he wants to be, always happy by most people’s account. The fact of the matter is, he doesn’t like to focus on the negative things. He feels that thinking about it tends to pollute his world and bring everyone down. He prefers to focus on the good parts, and pushes the bad out of the way.

The down side to this is rather obvious, however. Due to his personality, Asher is usually seen as a bit shallow. People think he speaks sweetly, but the minute he is gone people seem to be left a bit baffled as to what was all that charming. Still, he does leave an impression. Which obviously has certain ups. He is, after all, not forgettable if he is nothing else.

Aside from his refusal to give people depth in his personality, Asher is fairly faithful to his friends. He does tend to think that being in a single relationship at a time is a bit ridiculous, but he is capable of having a stable relationship is the demand for it is there. He also has a fondness for, well, sex.
Personality Flaws: Always on the up and up, Asher has a hard time connecting to people emotionally. He is, of course, a sweet talker but it is mostly shallow and unfulfilling. His greatest flaw is probably that he is quick to take offense when people do not immediately accept his personality and…some of his choices. He is also a bit of a self-declared slut, which is not the best of impressions on others.
Positive Personality Traits: Asher is friendly, and open to listening to people talk things over with him. He is happy to help his friends in anyway he can. Also he makes friends easy enough, despite his very ‘flamer’ personality. He is funny, and cheerful, and always open to new things.
Character Strengths: Ash is very confident in himself. He is also particularly talented with fine arts such as drawing and painting. He is decent at literature and English as well, and of course, has quite a knack with words.
Character Weaknesses: Ash is a bit shallow, and hard to nail down at times. For all his friendly, confident nature he is not prone to just throwing the doors open and letting others into his private world. This has the biggest impact on his personal relationships and his boyfriends. He has a habit of being a bit of a loner, and feeling a bit “me against the world” like.
Character History (two paragraphs or more):
Asher was born in Rochester, New York in 1990. He spent his first five years there before his mother and father were divorced, and he moved with his mother to Brooklyn. There he was raised by his mother, and attended the local schools. His summers were still spent in Rochester, with his father and new step-mother (and eventual half-brothers), while the rest of the year was with his mother.

Despite Emily Stewart’s best efforts to be there for her son, Asher did spend most of his time alone. By the time he was twelve he was doing all his own chores and cooking, as well as discovering a few very startling things about himself. He found that he thought boys were cuter than girls, and that he was much more comfortable expressing himself in a girlish manner.

It would take him two years to really start to experiment with the feelings though. When he was 14, he and another boy in middle school snuck out of class and did a bit of harmless…’experimenting’. When he was 15, though, his mother walked in on Asher and his first ‘boyfriend’ making out on the couch. She’d come home early from work, and all but tossed her son out into the streets, thus ended his first relationship. She pulled him out of his school and enrolled him in another school, as well as sending him to counseling, feeling that this was just a way to get attention.

However, he simply found another boyfriend. This time, though, he carefully kept the evidence of his relationship away from his home and mom. With the end of the school year, though, Ash ended the relationship. When he went to Rochester to spend the summer with his dad, he spent a good amount of time out partying and making friends. His father would eventually send him home early when again Asher was caught with his hands in the cookie jar.

When he returned home, his mother seemed heartbroken, to which Asher would only say he was ‘sorry, but mom…I think I’m really gay.’ They didn’t talk much for a little while, and Asher continued on with school and his life with barely any notice. Or at least that was the way it seemed to those looking in. When he was 17, he got a number of piercings. Among them was a tongue ring.

When he was 18 he broke down and took the SAT and scored a modest score. He applied to several colleges, and was accepted into Sparta College where he is starting this fall as a Fine Arts major. He is hoping the time away from his parents will help everyone sort of…come to grips with the truth.
Family:
Mother- Emily Bradshaw Stewart is a 45 year old nurse at a local Brooklyn Hospital. She works long hours and is a single mother. She has done her best to take care of her son, but still feels as if she did something wrong at some point. And that it is single-handedly her fault that her only child is gay.
Father- Patrick Ashton Stewart is a Rochester business man. He owns and operates a home-estate firm that helps organize wills and estates for the elderly. He is 47 and well off. As far as his oldest son goes, he is torn between being ‘rid’ of him, and feeling a fatherly need to be there for him as well. The end result is that he still sends Asher money when he needs it, but otherwise has little contact with him.
Step-mother- Jennifer Kathleen Howard-Stewart is a stay at home mother. She spends much of her time playing the roll of soccer mom and house-keeper. And she plays the role wonderfully. She is everything, Patrick claims, that Emily wasn’t. And Jennifer wholly believes that if she’d been the one to raise Asher, he wouldn’t have turned out gay.
Half-Brothers- Timothy and James Howard-Smith are 13 year old twins. They don’t really think too much about their brother’s relationship with the family, though they recently stated they were not surprised to discover Asher was gay. According to Tim, Ash clearly looks gay. Therefore no one should have ever wondered about it. They both are active in sports, and are on the honor rolls.
